Rigsby Family Cruise

At the reunion earlier this month, the idea was discussed about a family cruise for July 2012. There were four families at the reunion that signed up. The cruise will be the 3rd week of July 2012 on the Carnival Magic, leaving Galveston TX for Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel. If you are interested, please let us know NLT April 15th. Your name will be added to the list and a travel agency will be in contact with you. Those who have expressed an interest are: Paul & Kathy Rigsby, Christina & Roger Robertson, Bryan, Lisa & Larissa Hallmark, and Jerry & Sandy Hallmark. Hopefully, there will be some of the family from the [otherside] come forward and want to go. It is my understanding that if we get enough people, we should be able to get some on-board credit.

Please let us know ASAP .... thanks.

Recap | Reunion 2011

What a great reunion! Lots of food and fellowship with one another. We want to especially thank Jerry and Sandy Hallmark for their securing and setting up the location this year … a lot of effort and work went into it and we sincerely appreciate it!

We missed many family members who couldn’t make it, and hope that future plans will allow attendance. Speaking of future attendance, a discussion was held regarding the feasibility of 2012’s reunion taking place on a cruise line … yes, a really really big boat leaving out of Galveston. The tentative date would be either the 3rd or 4th week of July in 2012, so plenty of time to make plans. Paul Rigsby will gather additional information and we will post through this blog and via email when that information is available. In the meantime, leave comments below as to your thoughts or suggestions.

Rigsby Reunion Fast Approaching!

Good morning everyone! Well we have just about 4 weeks until we all meet once again for the Erasmus Rigsby Descendant's Reunion. First of all, we'd like to thank Aunt Sue's side of the family [The Hallmarks] for arranging for Boland Park in Caddo as this year's place to meet. There are playground items, such as slides and swings, etc., for the kids to play on, and there is also a place to play basketball if you want to...just bring your basketball. Further, we would like to remind everyone that we will start at 10:00am, on SATURDAY, March 12, 2011 at the park.

Please bring your photo albums, or any pictures you want to show the family of things you have been doing such as vacations since we last met. Also, please prepare your favorite recipe and bring the dish to share with the family. We do hope that everyone will be able to attend this year. There will be items to bid on such as a quilt and some fine woodworking items. The reason for this is to have money to curtail any costs that we may encounter at our reunions.

There is an Indian Museum in Caddo that is worth seeing. According to the Internet, it is open from 1-3pm on Saturdays. So those of us who would like to visit the museum, should plan accordingly...I'm sure there is lots of history there regarding Southeastern Oklahoma and Oklahoma in general.

The following are directions to Boland Park in Caddo.
Exit 75 North (Caddo exit) and make a right turn and go three (3) blocks to Choctaw Street. Turn right onto Choctaw Street, go three (3) more blocks and you'll see the park on the right side.
Jerry Hallmark assures us that there is air conditioning, running water, and an indoor toilet for our use.

Hope to see you all there.

Reunion Update | March 12, 2011

Hello Everyone:

I don't know about all of you but I am ready for SPRING. Hope all of you are looking forward to getting together as much as we are and we are excited about everyone coming to the Caddo area as that is where the Hallmarks grew up. We have an Indian Museum here that has a lot of history about the Caddo area; so after we all gather at the Boland Park, the ones that would like to go and tour the museum would be welcome. It is only open until noon so we will need to go before we eat and then we can all visit, play games, etc.

The reunion date is Saturday, March 12.

For the ones that need directions to Boland Park:

When you exit off of 75 north at the Caddo Exit make a right and go three blocks to Choctaw Street, and make another right on Choctaw. Go three more blocks and you will see the park on your right. There are swings, slides, and merry-go-round for the kids to play on along with a basketball goal if anyone wants to bring their basketball.

Rigsby Update | September 2010

With the cool front moving in last night, our summer heat wave has finally broken. Hopefully, everyone has had a nice summer break. Roger and I hauled Regina off to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to vacation with brother Alton and his wife, Shermin. We had a great time catching waves, ferries and sun. Paul and Kathy Rigsby cruised in Alaska, Arthur Smith survived the floods of Nashville, Jaci Butler has sung her way to Boston and back culminating in a CD release this month (visit Jaci & Those Guys’ Facebook page). I'm sure there have been many memorable things going on with other family members … we would love to hear about your summer adventures! Just leave a comment below or upload your photos to our Flickr site. I'll be happy to provide login information to any family members via email. (rigsbyfamily@ymail.com)

Mark your calendars! The 2011 Rigsby Family Reunion is being held at Boland Park in Caddo beginning at 10 a.m. on March 13.

With the reunion just around the corner, it's time to start drooling over the raffle items. The beautiful hand-made quilt is donated by Royce Hallmark Prentice. "Oriental Bargello" is in jewel tones of purple, red and yellow. Measuring a generous 55" x 60" it will make a beautiful accent for your wall, bed or sofa.

Jerry (Lumpbug) Hallmark is donating one of his signature rocking-horses for raffle. Although not yet completed, it will be similar to those ridden by grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews. More information will be coming ... it will truly be a beautiful wood-working item!

Let us hear from you!

Rigsby Reunion 2010

What a great time! Special thanks to Robert for getting the space at Noble Foundation for us again this year!

The family quilt was raffled off and Patsy Cox won ... congratulations! Next year, Royce will donate one of her beautiful quilts and Jerry has offered to make a (very) large special edition rocking horse. The horse will be made from all wood ... no metal. It is anticipated that the quilt and rocking horse will either be auctioned off or raffled at next year's reunion.

It was the consensus of the group that next year's reunion will be held the Saturday of Spring Break in Caddo. Jerry will secure the community building in Caddo and provide more particulars at a later date.
